PROJECT DETAIL

Phase 1 (COMPLETED)

Replacement of the Yoho Bridge, and upgrading 3.2 km of the Trans-Canada Highway from 2 lanes to 4 lanes. The Government of British Columbia contributed $43 million toward the $64 million project, with $21 million provided by the Government of Canada through the Strategic Highway Infrastructure Program (SHIP). Phase 2 (COMPLETED)

New Park Bridge, rest area, commercial vehicle brake check and 5.8 kilometres of highway reconfiguration/4-laning. The Government of British Columbia contributed $80.5 million toward the $143 million project, with $62.5 million provided by the Government of Canada through Canadian Strategic Infrastructure Program (CSIF). Phase 3 (COMPLETED)

Reconstruction of 8.8 kilometres of highway between the 10 Mile Hill commercial vehicle brake check and Yoho National Park, including a new crossing of Mount Hunter Creek, and 3.8 kilometres of improvements from Golden Hill to the “West Portal”, the entrance to the rugged canyon section. Phase 4 (In Design)

Future construction of more than four kilometres of new highway through the extremely difficult canyon section between the "West Portal" and the Yoho (5-Mile) Bridge. [more detail]
